We hope that you will be pleased with your purchases from Distinctive Sewing Supplies.
For protection of the copyrights of designers and authors, returns are not accepted on patterns.
Notions may be returned within the time specified below if the item is still in the original packaging and is not damaged. In the case of thread, the spool must be in its original cello sleeve and the thread not unravelled from the spool and subsequently replaced.
Fabric purchases are final sale. If you are not sure, please email us first to request information about a fabric before you buy. Swatches can be obtained for most fabrics, on request in writing by email. A swatch is a 2"x2" square of fabric. There is a $1.00 charge for each swatch mailed to Canadian or mainland USA addresses. Swatches for U.K. or Australian destinations will be charged separately by PayPal invoice. Swatches are not available for sale fabrics, fabrics sold as remnants or precut fabric bundles.
Subject to the above, if an item does not meet your expectations, please return it within 30 days for exchange. All items must be returned by you, and arrive, in their original state accompanied by the original receipt or a photocopy of the original receipt. Packages must be unopened and unused. Return shipping is at your own expense except in the cases noted below.
If you are returning an item for defect, damage in shipment or error, please advise us within five days of receipt of your order. We will arrange with you appropriate replacement, exchange and shipping, to ensure that you receive that you need.
Please note that batik, ikat, handwoven and shibori fabrics are hand-dyed and variations in colour and pattern on these fabrics is not considered a defect. To avoid disappointment, email us with any questions before you buy.
Pre-advise any returns to us by e-mail at email@example.com. Unauthorized returns will not be accepted.
If a refund is warranted due to error or damage in shipment, you should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
We ship to any address in Canada and mainland United States. We also ship to Australia and the U.K. When you place an order, we will estimate shipping and delivery dates for you based on the availability of your items and the shipping options you choose. If the estimate is higher than the actual shipping you will receive a refund. We use Canada Post for all our shipping.
Paper patterns will be sent by Canada Post regular mail if they fit into a regulation size envelope. The shipping charge estimate will be reduced to reflect the actual postage amount. Depending on the size of the patterns in their envelopes, one, two and sometimes three patterns can be sent by regular mail.
