Kayla Kennington has been creating extraordinary hand-dyed silk clothing, costumes, and fine art dolls professionally for the past 25 years. These include custom pieces for private clients, collections for galleries worldwide and very elaborate costume pieces for Obiko of San Francisco. Kayla is the "Crème de la Crème" winner of both the 2001 and 2002 Bernina Fashion Show for the "Butterfly Coat" and the "Fire Blossom Phoenix" showpieces. Her previous career as an integrated circuit design specialist in the high tech industry has contributed much to her ability to engineer complex works of art-to-wear.
Her pattern lines, Modular Design for Couture Artwear and Inspiration Point Designs, incorporate Kayla's unprecedented approach to garment construction. Her seaming techniques are innovative and can be easily adapted to the most challenging of fabrics: velvet, chiffon, organza and charmeuse.
