Batik Rayon - Red Rosebuds on Black
The Bali Effect batik is made from the finest quality rayon available in Southeast Asia. This fabric is especially milled with a dense thread count so that it wrinkles less, dyes beautifully and sews easily. The best quality dyes are used to ensure colourfastness wash after wash.
The creation of this fabric involves several complex processes of tjapping, dyeing and hand manipulation of the fabric. Tjapping is the process of manually applying wax resist to the fabric to create a specific motif. After the dye process, the wax is removed. The fabric is pinned up to dry, resulting in small holes along the selvedges. This is not considered a defect. Occasionally there may be traces of mud or wax resist on the fabric, This comes off when you pre-wash the fabric.
Rosebuds is an original design from the late Lois Ericson, that has been modified. The Rosebuds fabric is a two-way design; the rosebuds run in both directions along the straight of grain. The rosebuds are cool red on a black striated background.
