This splendid variegated design is the result of hand-manipulating, then dyeing the fabric on long tables in the batik factory in Bali rather than using wax resist. This hand manipulation creates flattering lines along the lengthwise grain.  Crinkle batik rayons are a sophisticated alternative to solid colours. Bark Crinkle has a lovely mix of light and deep browns.

Hand dyed crinkle rayons are easy care and wrinkle resistant and amazingly cool in the hot weather. The key to success with crinkle rayon is to prewash according to the instructions provided in the About Batik Rayon web page except do not press the fabric. If you do it will lose it's lovely crinkle properties and become limp. It's easy to restore however by washing and drying again according to the instructions. Instead of ironing, hold your steam iron just above the fabric and gentle pull fabric to its original shape.
