Privacy

We value your privacy and take special care to ensure that your personal information is kept safe.  If you shop for merchandise and place your orders with Distinctive Sewing Supplies either through this website, by e-mail, by phone, by regular post or otherwise, your personal information is kept private. We do not share your personal information with other individuals or organizations other than as needed to assist with the functioning of this website or to process your order.


Types of personal information we gather:


Purchases:  To process a purchase we gather from you your name, address, e-mail address, phone number plus credit card or bank information that appears on your cheque. You may also create a personal shopping account with us where we retain your information in order to process your orders more efficiently.


Newsletters:  If you subscribe for our e-mail newsletter service or information by mail, we will only use that information for the purpose of providing you with news about our company, products or services. To be removed from our mailing list you only need to send us an email at info@distinctivesewing.com with the word UNSUBSCRIBE in the subject line.

Returns

We hope that you will be pleased with your purchases from Distinctive Sewing Supplies.

For protection of the copyrights of designers and authors, returns are not accepted on patterns or books.  DVDs may be returned if they are defective for exchange for the same DVD.  Notions may be returned within the time specified below if the item is still in the original packaging and is not damaged.  Fabric purchases are final sale.

Subject to the above, if an item does not meet your expectations, please return it within 30 days for exchange.  All items must be returned by you, and arrive, in their original state accompanied by the original receipt or a photocopy of the original receipt.  Packages must be unopened and unused.  Return shipping is at your own expense except in the cases noted below.

If you are returning an item for defect, damage in shipment or error, please advise us within 5 days of receipt of your order.  We will arrange with you appropriate replacement, exchange and shipping, to ensure that you receive that you need.

Please note that batik fabric is hand-dyed and variations in colour and pattern on these fabrics is not considered a defect.  To avoid disappointment, request a fabric sample before you place your entire order.  Up to three 2" square samples will be mailed to you at no charge, on request.

Payment

We accept payment by VISA, Mastercard, Money Order and Personal Cheque.  All payments are in Canadian dollars.  NSF charges will apply for any cheques returned "non-sufficient funds".  Orders paid by personal cheque will be shipped once funds have cleared your bank account.  Due to the rise in fraudulent money orders, there will be a delay in processing similar to cheques in order that the bank may verify the authenticity of the money order before the order is sent.
