This is a microfibre rib fabric that has a short pile on one
side, and rib effect on the other. It is 100% woven
man-made microfibre with an very soft hand. It is a
generous 60" wide / 150 cm and very stable; it does not stretch
at all.
It would be an ideal choice for garments that require drape and
minimum, if any, topstitching. Topstitching on ribbed /
pile fabrics is very hard to control and can come off looking
crooked (particularly if it is done on a diagonal). Hand
stitching hems might be a better option. Also, it will not
take a lot of easing well, so look for dropped shoulder for
sleeved garments. It doesn't fray at all! No serging
or other seam finishes needed. What a time saver.
The fabric does not wrinkle easily but touch ups should only be
done with a cool iron. Hot iron and steam will permanently
mark the fabric (much like rayon velvet). |
