Design Considerations:

The striated effect runs lengthwise along the fabric with the straight of grain.  This draws the eye up and down the design which creates of illusion of "tall and slender".  Sewing patterns with a cross-wise grain layout may not work for you as the "lines" will run around the body instead of up and down.
