Our Mission

Every successful business, large or small has a goal or objective that is clearly articulated and well-understood. Simply put, at Distinctive Sewing Supplies our mission is to bring to the Canadian marketplace a select collection of premium quality sewing supplies through an online shopping medium.

What Makes us “Distinctive”?

You won’t find an exhaustive list of supplies here; nor will you find entire lines of fabrics and patterns. But what you will see are carefully selected products with enough information to make an informed choice about what to buy for your next sewing project. As our business grows, so too shall our product offering, but only products that add value for you, our clients.

In our post-modern society of too fast, too much and superficial relationships, it’s encouraging to find a business that still believes in old fashioned values. Distinctive Sewing Supplies believes that corporate values are more important than ever. Our core values are:

History

Distinctive Sewing Supplies has been in business for just over two years.  The response from fashion sewers has been wonderful and we are growing faster than we can keep up.  It has been an incredible learning experience from a business perspective.  Meeting so many talented, creative, interesting and generous people makes it all so much better.

Distinctive Sewing Supplies was born of a long time dream to turn a much loved hobby into a business. My name is Catherine and I have sewn and enjoyed sewing since the early age of nine years. And although there were gaps associated with life changing events (university, child rearing and career development), I always returned again and again to this wonderful craft. With a masters degree in business, a highly successful career in marketing and a passion for fashion sewing, it just seemed like a natural course to pursue.  I appreciate all the support I've received from my suppliers, my family and friends, and most of all my clients, who have made this dream a reality for me.
